Black front doors

Over the last few years, black front doors have become very popular, even more so than anthracite grey doors. It could be the trend for black cladding and windows but it could also be the desire to avoid white at all costs!

It turns out black suits everything. Bricks, cladding and windows in black, beige or red work well with any black door.  It is elegant, classic and contemporary all at the same time.

'Pitched Black' the house on stilts

This 4 bedroom house is tucked away in a corner of South London and is designed by Gruff Architects.  Its unusual design has black cladding to the first floor which is pitched at 10 degrees away from the boundaries to reduce mass perception. The site is super tight with access issues and features a car turntable and fabulously cool blue legs by fabricator Art Fabs.

The RAL-painted black front door was made to mimic the black cladding and is a simple Terano design which features a glass vision panel. The door is 1210 x 2592mm in size.

Black doors with glass on black cladded houses 

These beautiful houses were inspired by surrounding farm buildings and have a funky contemporary look. Our Terano E80 doorsets were chosen to keep a very uniform look along the frontage so that the cladding feels uninterrupted. 

The Terano doorset also allows light into the hallway creating an airy, modern welcome alongside use of lighter woods & paint and additional windows. Externally, even though the doors slightly disappear into the cladding, you can still make out that they are there and that it is the entrance. 

The houses are three bedrooms but appear bigger due to the big vaulted hallway and contemporary features like polished concrete flooring and white walls.

Modern black front door

This project by TG Designer Homes is pretty special, a suburban cluster of homes with black charred cladding and pared down concrete floors with Urban Front Terano E80 black doorsets to finish off that contemporary look.

Uniformity works well here with light coloured brick, charred cladding and black windows. The black-on-black adds depth and a stylish edge which helps to highlight the oak bench areas in the entrances.
