It feels early to be talking about Christmas but in a few weeks time households all over the world will be decorating their homes in preparation for the big day.
Who doesn't love a bit of sparkle? Right? But not always. It is possible to decorate keeping it simple and Christmassy without sparkle. If you aren't into traditional green, red and gold decorations, then we are sure we've got some fun and colourful choices for you here. We've shown the same wreaths on different doors in the pics opposite so you can see how they work on different designs and finishes.
1. Glass looking Bronze Wreath by Oka
Bronze doors need striking wreaths so to show off this door and keep it as simple as possible we chose a delicate bronze wire wreath with glass baubles in silver. It's from www.oka.com and costs around £60.00.
2. Light up green Wreath by We are Christmas at Amazon
Our most traditional choice, this has been chosen for its size really. Large and wide contemporary doors need wreaths at about 65cm wide which can be expensive and hard to find. We chose this very simple green wreath for the light up option too adds lots of different colors. Looks good both on and off. We paid around £20 for this wreath at Amazon.
3. Pom Pom wreath from Debenhams
If you'd like a bit of fun and a bit of retro chic then this wreath is definitely for you. Funnily enough it looked better on our copper door than it did on a painted yellow door. Definitely a good choice on a darker door too. It cost around £25.
4. Stars and golden pine decoration from Van Hague Garden Centre
A true alternative to a wreath is to hang basic tree decoration on the front of the door. Ideally flat objects would work best - in this case we just blue tacked the stars on so there was no hanging ropes or anything like that but this would only work with decorations that weigh less. These were about £3 for the small ones, and £5 for the larger one. The golden pine tree decoration was wrapped and tied at the bottom of the bronze handle to create a simple and elegant solution to front door decoration. This was £12.99. This handle is 600mm long
5. Hand Made Wreath
We found this cute geometric metal wreath online and then decorated it using Christmas decorations from Van Hague Garden Centre. It was easy enough to tape the stems of the decoration to the back of the frame and then hang a long tree silvery decoration on the bottom. Altogether this cost about £30.
