Investing in an Urban Front door means you are investing in every hour we have spent making our doors the best they can be.
We consider new designs, the quality of our glass, the detail of our frames and the ways in which we can minimalise visible elements to keep the doors attractive. High security is a standard feature for all our doors. We will work closely with you to achieve all the little but important details that give you the end result you want.
We provide advice at the early stages of a design build to help you choose the best Urban Front door(s) to suit your design aspiration, location and the exposure.
And we're also delighted to offer the following:
1. Solutions for frontages and internally with advice on best product and performance
2. Advice for eco-friendly solutions, those with budget restrictions and projects with multiple doors by developers.
3. CAD drawings and detailed specifications
4. Samples, visual examples and useful information through CPD presentations and material
5. Useful and necessary advice that you can pass to your clients for your piece of mind
Our staff collectively have over 100 years experience designing, making and developing new ideas on doors.
We aren't just experts on our doors but on frontages as well and can advise you on elements that you hadn't even realised were important. Like how to support the front door correctly in Architectural glazing or considering the right door for an air test.

In order to achieve larger looking and ‘secret doors’, we’ve introduced our flush doors that have no visible frame jambs or sections where they meet a boarded panel above or to the side of the door. These doors are also flush with the frame jambs and always come in the e80 /e98 range. See image on page 83.
Our oversized external doors can be made up to 1.5m wide x 3.2m tall including frame. These doors are made as a bespoke construction, similar to our e80 range, but with bespoke steel reinforcement and insulation.
We have a few different metallic copper/silver/bronze/black finishes to choose from and samples are available from our office. Please email info@urbanfront.co.uk to arrange samples to be posted to you.
We offer a specialist petflap solution which is invisible externally (disappears into the wood), Passive House, high security and automated.
If you like your door simple with no visible hardware other than the lock, then Option 20 is your solution. It’s a concealed pull handle that can be grooved into your door. This option is available on most doors, please call our office for details.
triple glazing and commercial grade security glazing
Do ask if you’d like either of the above options which are now available on all of our doorsets
and sidelites.
Quite a few of our clients are now requesting
higher security entry systems which allow entry without a physical key and entry using their phone. Do call or email us for the options available.
We now supply sprung pivots as standard.
These are suitable for pivot doors going into architectural glass and also for those needing
a self-closing option with a stand-open function. The sprung pivot doorsets come with a Corian threshold.
This is a self-locking 5point lock with a hold open latch option. With the flick of a small snib the lock retracts and the door works without a lock engaging. This works well if you’d like to pop out to your driveway and not worry about carrying a key with you.
The fully certified e98passiv is a highly insulated doorset made with a steel reinforced core and achieving up to 0.8W/m2K and 32db sound insulation with an airtightness up to class 3. The doors achieved Passive House certification in October 2013.
These doors are available in most of the Urban Front contemporary door designs (including vision panels with triple glazing) and in all of our hardwoods including Iroko, European Oak, American Black Walnut and Fumed Oak. The doors are made with triple rebates, steel reinforcement and various bespoke sizing going up to a maximum of 1100mm wide and 2200mm high.
With all of our audits behind us for a year or so, we are happy to announce that we achieved our ISO 9001: 2015 certification in December 2016 with certificate number 1390.
Here at Urban Front we are continuously striving to improve our procedures and quality and are extremely proud to have committed to the ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
Going forward we will be audited once a year to make sure that we are keeping all of our standards up to the level accepted by ISO and within the guidelines that we have agreed to. These audits are completed in our offices and workshop and cover all aspects of our working and technical procedures.
We are very pleased to announce that we have completed and achieved LPS1175-SR2 security testing for our e80sdoorset in sizes up to 1200 x 2400mm (size includes frames).
LPCB’s Window and Doors High Security scheme is carried out to Loss Prevention Standard LPS1175 and involves assessing their resistance to intruders. This standard comprises a range of manual intervention tests and can be applied to doors manufactured from most commonly available materials. The e80s withstood rigorous testing in the areas of: glass, frame and lock security including vision panels, leaf hardware and door construction.
LPS1175 is a requirement of the current Part Q building regulations.
In 2017 Urban Front joined Secured by Design (SBD), the national police crime prevention initiative, which accredits products, which are sufficiently robust to resist physical attack to deter opportunistic burglars. SBD has accredited one of our front doors, which has been certified to LPS 1175 SR2, after rigorous physical testing.
SBD Development Officer, Doug Skins said:
“This product has been tested for a more determined attack to resist tools of a higher mechanical advantage, such as claw hammers and drills – going beyond tools like screwdrivers and pliers. For a hardwood door to achieve this standard is an enormous achievement.”
the difference between LPS1175 / PAS 24 as quoted by BRE Global
LPS1175 differs in a number of ways from PAS 24 (used in LPCB’s Residential security scheme), notably in its approach to intruders that are willing to risk making noise in their attempts to enter a property.
PAS 24 considers resistance to opportunist criminals who wish to gain entry by stealth and without making noise that might attract attention. PAS 24 does not, for example, address breaking glass as an entry method. Products approved to PAS 24 are therefore best suited to domestic properties and others with either 24/7 occupancy or high volumes of personnel passing near the door/window concerned.
LPS1175 evaluates a product’s resistance to forced entry by a wider range of intruders, including those unconcerned about making noise. Under LPS1175, breaking glass is – as in the real world – recognised as a mode of entry for prospective thieves and is part of the assessment process.
LPS1175 approved products are therefore well suited to scenarios where criminals can either work out of sight or where they are not fearful of being spotted. It is therefore a generally more secure standard than PAS 24, and designed for door manufacturers with target market for high end residential and commercial premises.

Beyond the obvious functionality, front doors have long had strong symbolic and aesthetic roles to play in the design of our homes. Their contemporary role is no different yet the messages have changed. The beautifully designed, Door Couture book inspires us to think in greater detail about the role it now plays and how this translates into the ever important first impression.
