How to decorate your Urban Front door

Dressing a contemporary front door for Christmas is a little trickier than a traditional one because it’s not advisable to fix anything directly onto the door finish. That said, we have many ideas to help you make a fabulous festive impact. Read on for top tips and image inspiration.

Think doorscapes: decorate around the door instead of on the door. For example, if you have a plant or olive tree nearby, decorate it with baubles, ribbons or lights. If you have a canopy, decorate the top and around the sides of it.

Be a trendsetter: looking to add to your decoration collection? 2025 is all about bows of all sizes, pearl and beaded decorations.

Use props: place items next to the door to create that festive feel.  A nutcracker statue, large bauble or presents, for example.

Go light: hang very light decorations, foam-based for example, from the top of the door edge by using ‘hang over’ door hooks or ribbon decorations that go around the door (although please note, this won’t work if you have a weatherseal).

Decorate your handle: if you have a knob, it's easy to hang a wreath from it. A long pull handle can have greenery or sparkly strings wrapped around it or hung parallel by tying it to the top and bottom.

Choose baubles: if you have a canopy, porch or overhang, you can hang baubles and other decorations from the underside/roof – try baubles in different sizes to make an impact.

Use the wall: if you can, inset a hook or hooks into the wall next to the door and use it as a framing device.
