We’re proud to announce that, as part of our commitment to the local community, Urban Front will be supporting Mission EmployAble, a charity dedicated to training young adults with learning disabilities so they can enter the world of work.
Mission EmployAble runs an education and training programme for young people with learning disabilities to help secure them permanent part-time paid employment. Local youngsters aged 18-25 years with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) can apply to become interns. A partnership with the Buckinghamshire College Group, the course teaches practical skills, builds confidence, and encourages independence.
From September to July, the interns work in a purpose-built training facility, Café on The Common in Chorleywood. They learn a range of transferable skills, including food preparation, customer service and how to operate the till. To date, the programme has achieved an incredible 90% success rate of paid employment for graduates. Industry sectors include hospitality, catering, retail, horticultural, sports coaching, warehouse, care homes and hotels.
"This cause is particularly close to my heart. As a parent of teenagers with ADHD and autism, I have a deep appreciation for the incredible work Mission EmployAble does to empower individuals, celebrate neurodiversity, and create opportunities for everyone to thrive. The charity is near my home, and I often visit to have coffee in their training cafe,” says Elizabeth Assaf, Urban Front co-founder and designer. "As Urban Front continues to grow, I believe it’s important to give back to the communities that have supported us and to contribute to organisations making a real difference. We’re excited to start this journey with Mission EmployAble — and we look forward to sharing updates about how we’ll be supporting their projects in the months ahead," she says. Watch this space!
